Team Beck is Home

So we got home yesterday about 1 pm. We probably would have got home a little earlier, but I was pretty nervous driving. So I drove about 11 mph, but we got home safely. I guess I will just account for a little extra time to travel. When we got home, we did our first feeding, and then we did what team Beck does best. WE NAPPED. Then I got to go run some errands, picking up Mom's pain killers, weird the pill box said 30 but I'm sure there were only 26, huh. I also had to finalize Madeline's insurance at work, pick up some dog food, and lastly get Mom some McDonalds. I guess mom is back, she had her sweet tea and southern style chicken sandwich. I'm not sure why people like sweet tea so much, and why there is such a mason dixon line divide on who likes the tea sweet or not.

After running errands we got to spend our first real day together as a family. We couldn't ring for Magaret our favorite nurse, we couldn't get room service, we didn't have housekeeping, this whole thing just got real. It was great though, that there was now a bed big enough for the three of us. I have a feeling the three of us will be spending a good amount of the near future in this bed. I hope pepper will be okay sharing the bed with another person, as she kinda thinks that it is her bed. Also last night I put together the baby swing, yet another electronic thing without batteries. I don't understand why these companies don't include batteries. Charge the extra money for the batteries, allow families to use the products when they come out of the box. I don't know if I have a lot of pent up anger from getting gifts when I was a kid and not having batteries come with them, but something needs to be done. Otherwise the swing looks great. I'd also like to thank grandma Yeager, while we were in the hospital, she spent many hours cooking, cleaning, setting up the pack and play. Our place looks wonderful, thanks ninny. The plan for ninny and grandpa Yeager, (although we are still deciding exactly what to call him) are leaving in a month, I guess I should mention our place is for sale and we would be more then happy to cut them a deal. I'd even let them move in with us, if mom wouldn't kill me first.

I'd also like to thank uncle Tim, Eric, Meghan, and Candace for the pack and play. This thing is awesome. The video attached has Maddie laying in the pack and play.

Maddie and Mom slept wonderful last night and this morning we were able to pick up Pepper. The family is officially together. It's time to wake up Mom and Maddie for lunch feeding and also wake up Pepper so she can finally meet her little sister.

Milk is in

Today is an exciting day, the milk has finally arrived. Madeline will now have plenty to eat for the next however long mom's breastfeed for. Not sure how long mom will be able to keep this up, especially when she goes back to work.

We get to head home tomorrow, to officially begin the journey of a family together. While this is such an exciting moment, it's incredibly nerve wrecking as well. I've looked after my nephews before, and gave them back when mom got home, but there is no giving back of Madeline. She is here to stay. I've had a 1000 thoughts go through my head, such as the first boyfriend she brings home, the first day of school, the first time someone breaks her heart, and when she leaves for college. The only thing that I do know, is that I will always be there for you Maddie. You will always have a friend, confidant, and a DAD that loves you. I know I won't always make the right decision, and many times I might give you the answer you want to hear when mom says no.

Just another manic Monday

Good Morning from Evanston....

Maddie is sleeping on daddy's lap right now, she just got a huge breakfast from mom. Luckily for her, she had just made room for breakfast. Dad is getting real good at changing diapers as well. Add that to his list of things he does well. This morning we have a breast feeding class, and we also found out we should be able to get home some time on Wednesday.

Maddie is definitely dads' daughter, her gas outta control. It rivals uncle Timmy's G's, and she is closing in on his size as well. In case you don't know Timmy is also known as the lil' guy, lil chorizo, lil egg roll and lil bugger. The funny thing is, he is actually my size (assuming I went I on a diet).

Tim and Candace, our wonderful friends looking after our dog Pepper sent us a few pictures that I would like to share with everyone. Pepper is going to be a great big sister to Maddie, I can't wait for the two of them to meet. I hope Pepper doesn't get too jealous of all the attention she is going to lose. The other dog in the picture is Rudy. Thanks Rudy for sharing your couch with Pepper.

Back to Maddie, she is truly an Angel. For those of you that are already parents, you already know, but if your not, parenthood is truly amazing. Mom and Dad are already falling in love with a few of Maddie's funny quirks. When she starts to cry, it's the most pathetic/endearing sound. It reminds Mom and Dad of a teradactal that can barely make noise. I will try to get some video of it. I apologize for my writing style, I have to make a decision to write in either first or third person.....anyways I digress. Maddie also does this funny head shake thing, when she is done feeding or doesn't want the pacifier anymore, she shakes her head back and forth as if she is implying no more daddy, thank you. Lastly she has been working on her pirate impersonation, she looks at us with one eye open as if she's thinking "what rrrrrrrrrr you thinking"

I'm going to cut this short, because she either shook my chair with her gas or she needs to be changed.

Ninny has arrived

Ninny and Buddy have arrived, aka Grandma and Grandpa Yeager just got in from GA. Today has been a great day so far, we have got to watch about 8 hours of Football and football coverage today. Daddy is teaching Maddie to dislike the Packers already.

Morning From The Hospital

Well back by popular demand.....

Good morning from team Beck. Maddie is doing wonderful right now, she is sleeping in mom's lap right now. Mom is doing good as well, Maddie slept most of the night in the nursery allowing mom to get a somewhat full nights sleep. We have already seen our pediatrician, ob, and about 6 rn and pct's this morning, and everyone is better then the next. Everyone except the lady taking blood this morning. She barged in at 6 am, flipped on the lights and started drawing blood, all before team Beck even woke up. We will forgive the hospital, everyone cannot be as great as Dr. Huey.

Yesterday was a good day, we had a lot of visitors and tons of email and text message well wishes. Thank you to everyone who has checked in on us. Sorry if we haven't returned your email, text message or voicemail yet. Thank god we don't tweet as well, that would be pretty hard to keep up with. Grandparents don't worry if you don't know what tweeting is, we don't really know either.

If we haven't mentioned yet, we are at Evanston Hospital room 3626 and visiting hours are from 11am to 830pm. Sorry, but due to the swine flu no one under the age of 21 is allowed. Tim please remember to bring ID, I want to make sure they let you in.

It looks like we will be in the hospital until Wednesday, so I should have plenty of time to send many more pictures and keep updating everyone on Maddie's progress.

Mom is about to get a rogam shot, so wish her luck. Talk to you all soon.

The Labor Story

Mom woke up friday morning with lots of pressure in her pelvis, but didn't have many contractions all day. While dad was busy honing his Wii skills, mom began to feel nauseous. We decided to take mom home at 5:30 pm. About 7:30 pm the contractions began feeling very strong, so dad quickly thinking decided to start timing contractions. The contractions were between 6-10 minutes apart, and lasted about 45-60 seconds. At 8:30 pm we decided to call the doctor, where we were told if we were still comfortable, we could stay put. Being comfortable lasted only 35 more minutes. Luckily, dad was prepared, and we were able to leave with the overnight bag by about 9:15 pm. We dropped our dog pepper off with our great friends tim and candace. Thank you both again! We got to the hospital and checked in immediately were we met our new friend nurse Janet. After answering many questions we met doctor Huey, wonderful person. Doctor Huey measured mom and she was measuring 3 cm, so the epideral was ordered immediately! About 10:40 pm mom received the epideral, and what a wonderful thing they are. The pain and the annoyance with dad seemed to cease almost immediately. About 30 minutes later mom told dad, I either peed or my water broke (not being able to feel from the waist down). The brave dad decided to proceed with caution and investigate was it pee or was it the infamous water breaking. At first dad didn't see anything, then "oh dear god......that's not pee" Nurse Janet arrived shortly after dads discovery only to confirm that he was correct. Not only did the water break though, but there seemed to be some merconium as well. At that point dr. Huey arrived to let mom know she was already 7 or 8 cm dialated. While looking around making sure baby and mom were okay, Madeline's heart rate began to drop immediately. Dr. Huey decided to get the back room aka the c-section room ready. Without hesitation Mom was wisked out of the room with Nurse Janet and there were calls for other doctors and anethesiologists. If you can't tell by now, dads spelling is not his strong suit. What his strong suit is, is remaining calm under adversity. Dad was telling mom she was doing great, all the while se was being rushed out of the room. While dad patiently waited in the labor and delivery room, mom and baby and the outstanding team at Northshore Womens hospital in Evanston performed a perfect c-section. At about 1230 am Dad got the confirmation that we had a baby girl and everyone was doing okay. It took until 1 am or shortly after for dad to hold his baby girl, and that's when love at first sight happened.

Life is truly precious and a mircle, our lives are changed forever. For the better. We have a little angel, that her Grandfather looked over until mom and dad could.

Madeline has arrived

Well world Madeline has arrived. Mom is doing well this morning too. We are laying around this morning feeding Madeline and getting rest for dad. Mom is yet to go to sleep. Our wonderful nurse Michelle just got here, and we will be working with her for the next couple of hours.

We cannot say enough thanks to our nurse last night Janet as well as Dr. Huey. The two of you are amazing, and we love you.

Tonight might be the night

The contractions are consistent and lengthy. This is the moment of truth. We might be going into the hospital very shortly. the overnight back is ready to go, the parents are in the know, and plans for our little pepper are made.

Night at home

tonight, mom is really beginning to nest. She wants to make sure everything is clean and ready to go for Madeline. I guess I have to figure out if I want to write in third person, first person, or through the eyes of Madeline. There will be plenty more to come, but I just want to make sure everything is working properly before the rest of the world meets our baby girl.
